We bring you the eagerly awaited return of Werkha with the “We Communicate EP”, a collection of three fresh tracks that are bubbling with the energy and impetus of new surroundings, life changes and myriad experiments in the live arena and the studio. This new release builds on his much loved 2015 debut LP, ‘Colours Of A Red Brick Raft’ – an intricate, playful mix of forward thinking electronic beats with deep, jazzy and worldly influences.
From his first DIY release, which was picked up by Gilles Peterson for a Brownswood Bubblers compilation, to the skyward trajectory of his further outings, Werkha has become internationally recognised as one of electronic music’s most promising talents. He has remixed Paper Tiger, Dutch Uncles and Quantic, while his own tracks have gained reworks from Scratcha DVA, Henry Wu, Contours and more. With a dedication and a philosophical outlook that flows through his unique style, his experience and understanding of life are refracted through his art, and the new EP is no exception. “It’s about looking at music from every side”, he says. “Not getting caught up in whom it is for, but what it is for. At its root, music is how we express frustration, anger, love, language, culture. Through the way in which we assemble pieces of music as the creator, and dissect them as the listener, we create a dialogue. We communicate.”

Only recently discovered this and am asking myself why I had never heard of Yussef Dayes in particular... live this whole album. Such musicianship and a fresh/modern take on classic jazz forms. Massive respect to the musicians Pilot Fish
